Creme Egg Fudge, Mini Eggs Fudge, Smarties Fudge

Easter fudge & nougat has been the hot topic in the Bluebell Cottage kitchen this month. That and when the lockdown will end. As I type it has just been announced that there is a roadmap ahead for us all. Hopefully this will get us back to the market we love and our regular customers that we miss. Fingers crossed we will see you all again soon.

Now that we are heading towards spring our thoughts have turned to what our Easter offering will be this year. As many of you will know already, we have a core range of fudge and nougat choices that we make and that are always available. We are still debating whether our last ‘special flavours’, strawberry dream fudge & prosecco fudge will become a part of the main range or whether they will come back now and again. For Easter we really fancied pushing the boat out. With this in mind it is with great pleasure that we can announce our three new flavours for the next month or so will be clotted cream & Cadburys Crème Egg fudge, clotted cream & Cadburys Mini Eggs fudge, Smarties and clotted cream fudge. A lot of experimentation went into these new flavours. Now we could have used generic cheap alternatives for some of these well-loved confectionery items however those who know Bluebell Cottage will know that quality of ingredients in one thing we do not compromise on. The Crème eggs and Mini Eggs used in our fudge are both the official Cadbury’s variety and the Smarties are the genuine Nestle product.

After a bit of trial and error we were more than happy with the finished products and they are now available to order on our website for a limited time. The feedback, so far, from customers has been extremely positive. Mini Eggs fudge gives a lovely crunch with the smoothness of the clotted cream. Cadburys Crème Egg fudge brings a tasty dose of chocolate and fondant to the fudge and Smarties fudge has a real wow factor in both colour and taste.

Popularity has actually been that high that a second larger batch is now in the works and planned for the next few days. The copper pans are going to be busy!

Recent additions to our website include the ability for you to now add a greetings card to your fudge order. If your order is a fudge present for someone you can add a card at the checkout, and we will hand write any message you require inside. It adds a nice personal touch, especially during these lockdown months. The cards, which we have personally created, cover a variety of events such as birthdays, Mother’s Day, thank you and Get well soon. We anticipate adding to the range with future events including Easter, Father’s Day & Christmas.

Our website has also undergone a redesign which should make it more suitable for mobile devices and bring us a bit further into the modern age. If you happen to have any feedback on it then please let us know. Hopefully before long, the weather will ease a little, start to warm and we can get out in our gardens again. The Bluebell Cottage Garden is in dire need of some maintenance and someone here is very keen to get back to focussing on her plants, flowers and vegetables. We will share a few of these things throughout the year on our Instagram account.

Future plans so far include two new editions to our classic confectionery range as well a new soft nougat we are experimenting with! The return of an old favourite and some new gift sets, which we will release in the coming months. In the mean time, please stay safe, look after each other and we will see you all soon.
